The ‘dewaniya’ or ‘diwaniya’ was the reception area where a Middle Eastern man traditionally received his business colleagues and male guests. Today the term refers both to a reception hall and the gathering held in it, and visiting or hosting a dewaniya is an important feature of a Gulf Arab man’s social life. This diwaniya was built for the Al Sager family – which is part of a consortium that owns the National Bank of Kuwait.
DSP DOHA was commissioned to create and install brass wall cladding and doors, alongside mirrors and glass surfaces inside the dining room and washrooms.
